Vision & Purpose

Kissing Mom

Lenzen Consulting offers preventive, restorative and assessment oriented approaches to aging by using rigorous, interdisciplinary, non-animal evidence-based research in order to improve areas of over-all health, cognition and social integration. By employing a creative and comprehensive range of disciplines and exploring untapped potential with a spirit of curiosity, Lenzen Consulting utilizes a commitment to excellence in integrative consultant services.  The sliding scale fees per a 1.5 hour consultation session ranges from $125.00 down to $25.00 depending on personal and financial circumstances.  Weekly home visits (1 hour) costs between $200.00 to $325.00 per month, depending on the individual circumstances and needs. The goal is to enhance and extend independent and self-sufficient lives for as long as possible. If I see that I can offer little improvement with my services, then I will give you other professionally qualified resources which can provide help to those in need.  Lenzen Consulting is guided by the principle that older people still have all that is necessary to improve their lives no matter where they are at the moment.

Mission

This vision is accomplished through 12 key activities:

  • The consult entails a review of lifestyle and quality of life issues including an overview of pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter drugs and dietary supplement use, with the intent of assessing their impact on daily living and lessening the incidence of interactions and side effects which may affect the client’s ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living) and cognition.
  • Broaden memory competence through a vital commitment to an integrative approach focusing on the improvement of attention and recall
  • Clinical evaluation assessment tools (at my office, your home or facility) provide feedback on chronic or acute physical, emotional and mental capacities, which then give impetus for prioritizing treatment focus with their primary healthcare provider and caretaker
  • Encourage senior and younger adult relationships and interactions to the benefit of all
  • Ingetrative programs promote ideas and principles which foster positive cognitive and behavioral concepts through interdisciplinary holistic approaches to body, mind and spirit
  • Facilitate support groups in order to explore untapped potential for personal growth
  • Investigative and informative evaluations encourage health self-management. Each individual plays a pivotal role in the maintenance of their own well-being
  • Communicative liaison between elder and family members concerning pertinent matters, which includes home or facility visits and hospital advocacy
  • Investigative and interesting web blogs on various subjects regarding positive aging
  • Psychosocial determinations with a sensitivity to culture, environment and individual needs using critical and analytical methods of evaluation
  • Sensory stimulation (music, art and others) and Reminiscent Therapies
  • Cooperative, exploratory approach utilizing local community services and resources in order to assess and modify areas of risk and stress management

Additional Criteria and Principles

  • Many factors contribute to possible negative effects in the 60 and older cohort.  For example, some diseases, medications, mental aberrations, etc that are fairly benign to younger people can have devastating effects on older ones, particularly when co-morbidities are present; These and other differences are always taken into consideration.
  • Genetic vs environmental patterns are observed using extensive questionnaires and background information.  Preventive up-to-date research, relevant to humans only, is ongoing.
  • The use of biomarkers provided by their physician for improving the prediction of health and disease are for informational vs specific diagnostic susceptibilities only.
  • Prior years– a story of the life path is traced and important memories which brought joy and laughter, pain and learning are compiled into a personalized folder for client.
  • Intergenerational relationships form with younger volunteers and/or older pets, where listening, bonding and communication is key.
  • Healthy people 60 + can learn how to maintain as much of their mental faculties as possible.  Evidence-based seminars and blogs on various aspects of health, or private consultations where personal concerns can be expressed, are offered.
  • Over 1/2 of the 65+ cohort has 3 or more chronic diseases (cardiovascular disorders, cancer, arthritis or diabetes, etc). Practical integrative approaches are utilized in coordination with the physician, pharmacist and other health care providers.
  • Weathering the “storms” can be challenging.  When acute situations overwhelm the elder or caregiver, help is available in many forms through a needs assessment evaluation.
  • Support or discussion groups can add valuable information on key issues of caregiving, for example.
  • The main goal is to maintain a healthy functional status for as long as possible.
